Thyssen Mining Construction of Canada is a recognized leader in the underground mine construction industry. We are seeking multiple experienced Long Hole Drillers to support underground production operations. The successful candidate will operate mechanized long-hole drilling equipment to drill production holes accurately and efficiently according to engineered drill plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate long-hole production drills in an underground hard-rock mining environment.
- Drill production holes, including rings, upholes, downholes, and slot holes, according to drill plans.
- Set up and align drilling equipment to achieve required hole depth, angle, spacing, and accuracy.
- Inspect equipment and complete routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting.
- Monitor drilling conditions and identify issues such as fractured ground, water, blocked holes, or hole deviation.
- Record drilling progress, completed holes, re-drills, and equipment issues.
- Inspect work areas for ground-control and other underground hazards.
- Follow all site safety procedures, operating standards, and production requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineering, blasting, maintenance, and other underground crews.
Qualifications:
- Previous Long Hole Driller / Production Driller experience in underground hard-rock mining.
- Experience in underground gold mining is preferred.
- Experience operating Sandvik, Epiroc/Atlas Copco, or similar long-hole drilling equipment is an asset.
- Ability to read drill plans, layouts, and survey markings.
- Strong understanding of underground safety, ground conditions, and drilling practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Required underground mining certifications and valid driver’s license, as applicable.
