As an Embedded Systems Software Developer, you will assist in the research and development of new embedded control systems, instrumentation, and displays. This role will also develop, test, and deploy embedded software crucial to the operation of the machine control systems used in equipment for the forestry industry. This role will work closely with embedded system architects and software developers while interacting with mechanical engineers, service experts, manufacturing teams, and quality.
Location: 200 Avenue Road, Cambridge, ON
Dedicated Day Shift: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday
Job Duties
- Develop, test, document, and deploy firmware for embedded systems using C/C++ on Linux platforms, under the guidance of embedded system designers
- Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources
- Create and maintain desktop applications and services, often using languages such as C# and .NET.
- Collaborate in the design and development of custom electronic boards and firmware for manufacturing test purposes
- Support software quality assurance (QA) processes and optimize input/output (I/O) performance
Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of wireframe development and prototyping
- Familiar with software development life cycles, continuous integration, and testing
- Experience with formal testing methods and tools for GUI
- Collaborate with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members and departments
- Ability to quickly learn and comprehend new systems
- Experience with embedded firmware programming and real-time control systems
- Prior experience with source code revision and software development life cycles
- Knowledge of popular microcontroller technologies, real-time data acquisition systems, sensors, actuators, control system theory, and camera technologies is an asset
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field
- Experience with embedded firmware programming and real-time systems.
- Able to complete source code revision and software development life cycles
- Proven experience of skilled programming C/C++ embedded firmware and applications
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Team and communicate skills for collaboration with hardware and other teams
