Role Description The Purchaser is a full-time, on-site role based in Whitby, ON, responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services needed for manufacturing and operations. Day-to-day tasks include sourcing and evaluating suppliers, requesting and reviewing quotations, negotiating pricing and terms, and issuing purchase orders in line with company policies and quality standards. The Purchaser monitors inventory levels, coordinates with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of stock, and tracks delivery schedules to avoid shortages or delays. This role also involves maintaining accurate procurement records, analyzing purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives. The Purchaser is expected to build strong vendor relationships and uphold ethical, transparent purchasing practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environment, including supplier sourcing and vendor relationship management.
- Skills in cost analysis, negotiation, and contract review to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service levels.
- Proficiency with inventory management practices and ERP or MRP systems, as well as basic spreadsheet and data analysis tools.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills to handle multiple purchase requests and deadlines accurately.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers in a professional manner.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, product requirements, and quality standards related to automotive and suspension components.
- Post-secondary education in supply chain management, business, or a related field is an asset; professional purchasing or supply chain certifications are beneficial.
- Commitment to ethical purchasing practices, continuous improvement, and working collaboratively in an on-site team environment in Whitby, ON.
