About TOI Terrace Academy:
TOI Terrace Academy is an inquiry-driven academic mentorship community based in Vancouver. We don't just provide standard tutoring - we walk alongside bilingual and international students, helping them develop critical thinking, academic excellence, and the self-confidence to thrive in North American education.
Our mentors are not just teachers; they are role models who have navigated the same challenges, embraced their struggles, and turned them into success stories.
The Role:
We are looking for passionate, bilingual Academic Mentors to guide middle and high school students through rigorous curricula and standardized test preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized 1-on-1 mentorship and academic coaching in AP courses, SAT, and/or IELTS.
- Help students build structured study habits, logical thinking, and independent problem-solving skills.
- Share your personal academic journey and insights to inspire and empower students.
- Collaborate with the team on student progress tracking and learning strategies.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Strong Academic Track Record: First-hand experience and proven success in AP courses, SAT, and/or IELTS.
- Canadian Academic Background: Must have graduated from a Canadian high school and currently be attending (or have graduated from) a Canadian university/college (UBC, SFU, BCIT, etc.).
- Fully Bilingual: Fluent in both Japanese and English (able to conduct lessons and explain complex academic concepts in both languages).
- Empathy & Mentorship Mindset: You genuinely care about students' growth. You understand the vulnerability of entering a new educational environment and believe in guiding students from "One day" to "Day One."
- Availability: Available 2–3 afternoons/evenings per week (after school, flexible scheduling around your university timetable).
- Location Flexibility: Ability to work in a hybrid setting (Online + In-person sessions in Vancouver, Burnaby, or Coquitlam).
