Role Description The Senior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This role is responsible for preparing detailed estimates for roofing projects, including quantity takeoffs, labor and material costing, and subcontractor pricing. The Senior Estimator reviews drawings, specifications, and tender documents, identifies risks and opportunities, and prepares competitive bids and proposals. The role collaborates closely with project managers, operations, and sales teams to clarify scope, answer client questions, and support contract negotiations. Daily activities include maintaining estimating databases, updating price lists, participating in site visits, and ensuring that all estimates align with company standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in construction or roofing estimation, including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid preparation.
- Strong knowledge of roofing systems, building materials, and construction methods, particularly within the Greater Toronto Area market.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital tools used for measurement, pricing, and document management.
- Solid analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with clients, suppliers, project managers, and field teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines, prioritize workload, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant education such as a diploma or degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Previous experience as an estimator or senior estimator in roofing or commercial construction is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards applicable to roofing projects in Ontario.
