About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a large public sector client on a series of digital and IT initiatives. You'll act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, leading requirements gathering, shaping solutions, and making sure what gets built delivers real value to end users.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable leading workshops, writing business cases from start to finish, and working closely with Agile delivery teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead and facilitate workshops, interviews, and JAD sessions to gather, document, and confirm business requirements, business rules, and process improvements.
- Translate complex business needs into clear user stories, use cases, and manageable deliverables for development teams.
- Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, options analyses, and feasibility studies to support IT investment decisions.
- Create process maps, context diagrams, system diagrams, stakeholder maps, and data models.
- Work within Agile/Scrum teams, participating in sprint planning and standups so analysis work aligns with iterative delivery.
- Support UX, functional, and technical design, including UI mockups and prototypes in tools such as Figma.
- Maintain requirements traceability and support quality assurance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Conduct impact analysis and support change management, including training and communication for end users.
- Identify, assess, and communicate risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support RFP processes by defining requirements and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Assist with production support and the resolution of production issues.
What You Bring
Required:
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Consultant, including work on medium to large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating requirements workshops.
- Strong Agile experience, including writing user stories and breaking down complex requirements.
- Experience developing business cases from start to finish.
- Understanding of enterprise business architecture and of aligning technology recommendations with organizational standards.
- Solid knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC), QA and UAT, change management, and risk management.
- Proficiency with tools such as Azure DevOps, MS Visio, and Figma.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have:
- Public sector or government experience.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., AODA).
- Familiarity with information management principles and practices.
- Experience with budget estimation and ROI assessments.
