Lead Environmental Technician

$25.00–$30.00 per hour, plus on-call premiums
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Environmental Technician to lead crews completing environmental remediation and restoration projects involving mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials.
This position is suited to someone with strong environmental remediation experience who can confidently direct work on site, maintain proper containment procedures and ensure projects are completed safely and in accordance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities Include
- Lead crews completing environmental remediation and restoration projects
- Stabilize and remediate properties affected by mould, asbestos and other environmental hazards
- Set up, maintain and monitor containment areas and negative-air systems
- Complete selective demolition and remove environmentally impacted building materials
- Assign work and provide direction to technicians on site
- Ensure work is completed according to environmental regulations, safety requirements and company standards
- Ensure the proper use of PPE, respirators and safety equipment
- Monitor site conditions and identify potential safety concerns
- Accurately document site conditions, readings and daily work activities
- Maintain a professional approach when working in customers’ homes and businesses
- Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent environmental situations
- Travel outside Winnipeg when required
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of environmental remediation or restoration experience
- Previous experience leading a crew or directing technicians on site
- Experience working with mould and asbestos-containing materials
- Strong knowledge of containment procedures, negative-air systems and site safety
- Current IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) certification
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Willingness and ability to travel outside Winnipeg when required
- Ability to carry at least 50 lbs and complete physically demanding work
- Ability to wear full PPE, including a fitted respirator
- Ownership of basic hand tools and cordless power tools
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal record check upon hire
Additional Assets
- Additional IICRC certifications, including AMRT, ASD, FSRT, OCT or CCT
- Formal asbestos-abatement training or certification
- Experience with air monitoring and environmental-control systems
- Experience using Encircle, Assured Pack-out or similar contents-tracking software
- Construction or demolition experience
- First Aid certification
