Heavy Equipment Service Technician

$67,200–$89,000 per year
Our client is seeking an experienced Service Technician to maintain and repair snow and ice removal equipment. This permanent, full-time role combines work in the service shop with field service at municipal yards, job sites, and customer locations.
The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work independently and communicate clearly with customers.

- Monday to Friday schedule, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- 40 hours per week
Responsibilities Include
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems on mobile equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in the shop and at customer sites
- Inspect, calibrate, and test equipment after repairs to confirm safe operation
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent service calls, particularly during peak snow season
- Explain technical findings and repair recommendations to customers
- Record labour, parts, diagnostic findings, and completed repairs in the work order system
- Support warranty assessments with root-cause findings and photographs
- Share recurring equipment issues with Engineering and Product Support
- Coordinate with the Service Coordinator and Parts team to complete work efficiently
- Keep the mobile service vehicle clean, organized, and stocked
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Participate in training and help support junior technicians
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining medium or heavy-duty trucks or heavy equipment
- Strong hands-on knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics
- 310T certification is a strong asset
- Welding certification is an asset
- Strong diagnostic, documentation, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing service priorities
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and work occasional overtime, evenings, or weekends during peak season
