Position Summary
The WSIB & Disability Management Coordinator is responsible for managing occupational injury claims, disability cases, and return-to-work programs within a unionized manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with WSIB, human rights, and employment legislation while supporting employees, supervisors, healthcare providers, and external stakeholders to facilitate safe and timely return-to-work outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
WSIB & Disability Management
- Manage WSIB claims from injury reporting through claim closure.
- Complete and submit required WSIB documentation, including Form 7.
- Complete Short-term disability forms for the union employees.
- Coordinate long-term disability (LTD), and medical leave cases.
- Maintain communication with employees, healthcare providers, insurers, and WSIB representatives.
- Monitor claim costs, trends, and case progress while maintaining confidential records.
Return-to-Work & Accommodation
- Develop, implement, and monitor modified work and return-to-work plans.
- Review medical restrictions and functional abilities information.
- Facilitate accommodation plans in compliance with Human Rights legislation.
- Conduct return-to-work meetings with employees and supervisors.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with WSIA, OHSA, ESA, Human Rights Code, collective agreements, and company policies.
- Track and report injury, disability, lost time, and claims management metrics.
- Support audits, claims reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Employee & Management Support
- Provide guidance on injury reporting, accommodation, and return-to-work processes.
- Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities.
- Support workplace injury prevention and employee wellness programs.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Disability Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience managing WSIB claims, disability management, and return-to-work programs.
- Experience in manufacturing and unionized environments is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of WSIB legislation, disability management, accommodation requirements, and employment legislation.
- Professional certifications such as CDMP, CRTWC, CRSP, or related credentials are considered an asset.

Working Conditions: Office-based with regular presence on the manufacturing floor. Ability to manage multiple cases and sensitive employee information while meeting strict deadlines.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000
