Salary Range: $82,000 to $100,000 annually, plus eligibility for the TTC Pension Plan's Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP) with a target incentive opportunity of 5%

Position Summary
The Financial Controls and Reconciliations Analyst is a member of the Finance department, reporting to the Manager, Technical Accounting and Reconciliations. The role prepares, analyzes, and investigates investment reconciliations; supports the integrity of financial reporting; and works within established financial controls. The incumbent coordinates with external auditors, custodians, investment managers, and internal stakeholders to obtain, validate, and maintain complete and accurate investment financial data, escalating significant or unresolved issues as appropriate.
The role requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP and IFRS, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to resolve complex or ambiguous matters while working within established guidelines and escalation protocols.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reconciliations, Controls & Financial Reporting
- Perform detailed reconciliation and validation of private markets data across investment manager reports, custodian records, and internal investment systems, ensuring the accurate recording of capital calls, distributions, returns of capital, valuations, and other investment activity.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, and maintain data quality controls to support the integrity of investment information used for reporting, performance measurement, liquidity management, and investment oversight.
- Maintain supporting documentation and evidence in accordance with internal control requirements.
- Monitor reconciliation completion status, outstanding items, and required supporting evidence.
- Support financial reporting related to reconciliation metrics and outstanding exceptions.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with accounting policies and control standards.
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Review investment transactions and provide supporting analysis as required.
Audit Support & Documentation
- Prepare schedules, supporting evidence, and responses to routine internal and external audit requests in a timely manner.
- Assist with the implementation of audit recommendations and management action plans.
- Assist in documenting financial processes, controls, and procedures for the reconciliation process.
Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Support
- Collaborate with custodians, investment managers, auditors, and internal stakeholders to support the completeness and accuracy of investment financial data.
- Assist in developing and improving reconciliation processes, procedures, and controls.
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation, efficiency, and control effectiveness within the reconciliation process.
- Participate in system implementations and process improvement initiatives within the Finance department and corporate-wide.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Education
- CPA designation required.
- Public accounting experience, preferably with a Big Four accounting firm, is considered a strong asset.
- CFA designation is considered an asset.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with developments in accounting, investment accounting operations, financial reporting, audit practices, and regulatory requirements.
Experience & Skills
- 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Experience preparing account reconciliations and investigating variances.
- Experience supporting audit engagements and responding to audit requests.
- Experience in investment accounting, a pension plan, asset management, investment management, a fund administrator, or another financial services environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, financial reporting, financial controls, and investment accounting principles.
- Ability to analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and financial systems/software, such as Sage Intacct, custodian systems, or similar tools.
