Total Plumbing & Heating is looking for a Journeyman Commercial Sheet Metal Worker to join our Edmonton team.
This is a full-time, permanent position working on commercial HVAC and mechanical projects throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area.
We're looking for an experienced Journeyman who can independently execute commercial sheet metal work, read and work from construction drawings, solve problems in the field, coordinate effectively with other trades and contribute to the development of apprentices.

Responsibilities
- Install commercial HVAC ductwork, fittings and related sheet metal systems
- Complete layout, assembly, installation and finishing work on commercial projects
- Install supply, return and exhaust air systems
- Install equipment connections, dampers, louvers, diffusers, grilles and related HVAC components
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, mechanical drawings and construction documents
- Layout and plan assigned work based on project drawings and specifications
- Measure, cut, fit and assemble sheet metal components as required
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues in the field
- Verify installed systems against drawings, specifications and applicable codes
- Identify deficiencies, conflicts and potential project issues and communicate them proactively
- Coordinate effectively with supervisors, project managers, general contractors and other trades
- Maintain accurate job and project documentation
- Maintain company tools, equipment and work areas
- Follow and reinforce company safety procedures and applicable safety regulations
- Provide guidance and technical support to apprentices when required
- Help develop apprentices through instruction, feedback and strong field practices
- Represent Total Plumbing & Heating professionally on every job site
- Perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Skills & Qualifications
- Alberta Journeyperson Sheet Metal Worker Certificate or Red Seal Certification
- Commercial sheet metal and HVAC installation experience
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC duct systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and mechanical drawings
- Ability to independently perform layout and plan assigned work
- Proficient with applicable sheet metal hand and power tools
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations and industry standards
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to identify and communicate project issues before they impact the work
- Ability to provide direction and support to apprentices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safe work practices and company standards
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record
Experience
Commercial Sheet Metal: Journeyman-level commercial sheet metal experience required.
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- Commercial construction
- HVAC ductwork installation
- Duct system layout
- Supply, return and exhaust systems
- Mechanical rooms
- Rooftop units and commercial HVAC equipment
- Equipment connections
- Dampers, louvers, diffusers and grilles
- Renovation and retrofit projects
- Coordination with plumbing, HVAC, electrical and other mechanical trades
Licence / Certification
- Alberta Journeyperson Sheet Metal Worker Certificate: Required
- Red Seal Certification: Accepted
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence: Required
- Clean driving record: Required
