Traugott Building Contractors Inc. is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead the field execution of wood-frame multi-family construction projects in Calgary Alberta and surrounding area
This is a senior site leadership opportunity for a proven Superintendent who knows how to take ownership of a project, drive the schedule, lead trades, maintain quality and safety, solve problems in real time, and successfully move a project from mobilization through occupancy and turnover.
Recent wood-frame multi-family construction experience is a key requirement for this position.
The Role
As Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day field leadership and execution of the project. Working closely with the Project Manager and broader project team, you will lead site operations while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants, clients and other project stakeholders.
You will be expected to anticipate challenges, make sound field decisions and maintain accountability for schedule, safety, quality and site coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full on-site execution of wood-frame multi-family construction projects
- Manage construction from site mobilization and foundations through framing, building envelope, MEP rough-ins, interior finishes, deficiencies, occupancy and turnover
- Develop and manage short-term schedules, look-aheads and site sequencing to maintain critical project milestones
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, deliveries and day-to-day site activities
- Proactively identify schedule risks, trade conflicts and construction issues before they impact project delivery
- Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work to ensure construction is completed in accordance with project requirements
- Lead regular site, trade and coordination meetings
- Monitor workmanship and maintain strong quality-control standards throughout construction
- Ensure compliance with project-specific health and safety requirements
- Coordinate inspections and work effectively with municipal authorities, consultants and project stakeholders
- Maintain accurate daily site reports, records and project documentation
- Manage deficiencies and drive timely completion through occupancy and project closeout
- Work collaboratively with Project Management while maintaining clear accountability for field execution
- Foster a professional, solutions-focused and accountable site culture
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will bring:
- Recent, demonstrated experience as a Site Superintendent on wood-frame multi-family projects
- Strong experience with multi-storey wood-frame residential construction
- Proven experience working for a General Contractor
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects through multiple phases of construction
- Strong knowledge of wood framing, building envelope, MEP coordination and interior finishes
- Experience coordinating and managing multiple subcontractors and complex construction schedules
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, construction standards and site safety requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing site priorities
- A proactive, hands-on approach to construction and site leadership
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and schedule performance
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced construction environment
Strong Assets
Experience with any of the following will be considered an asset:
- Large-scale wood-frame multi-family developments
- Apartment, condominium, rental or mixed-use residential construction
- Concrete podium with wood-frame construction above
- Underground parkades
- Alberta construction projects and established knowledge of the local trade environment
- Procore or similar construction management platforms
Compensation
Starting at $120,000+ annually, based on experience.
Final compensation will reflect the successful candidate's depth of experience, project history, technical knowledge and demonstrated ability to independently lead complex wood-frame multi-family construction projects.
