The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).
What is the project?
The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.
What is the Opportunity?
The Senior Guideway Civil Coordinator will assist in managing the civil engineering and construction activities related to roads and landscaping within the elevated guideway project. This role supports the Civil Manager in ensuring that all construction activities adhere to project schedules, budgets, quality, and safety standards. The Senior Guideway Civil Coordinator will help coordinate efforts and ensure compliance with all project requirements.
- Coordinate civil engineering and construction activities within the elevated guideway project.
- Coordinate with various departments including Technical, Environmental, Quality, and Safety, to support construction success
- Support the development and management of project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and provide status updates to the Civil Manager.
- Coordinate with the Civil Manager to align construction activities with overall project objectives.
- Assist in overseeing the planning, design, and construction of roads and landscaping, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Coordinate with the design teams to report, analyze and track potential design changes and issues as they arise.
- Supervise subcontractors and construction teams, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards.
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during construction.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports, including updates on timelines, budget status, and any issues encountered.
- Review and validate subcontractor progress billings, maintaining accurate records for billing verification
- Facilitate meetings with internal and external parties to support construction
- Track and maintain accurate project documentation, including change orders, progress reports, quality documentation, permits, etc.
Work Conditions
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driving license G or G2.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- May require working extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet project deadlines.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a construction coordinator or related role with experience in large infrastructure projects preferred.
- Experience with subway projects, including delivery, and handover of elevated guideway/ bridge assets is an asset.
- Experience with infrastructure and roadworks construction within complex dense urban areas is an asset.
- Experience with City of Toronto and OPSS standards and specifications is an asset.
- Experience with Metrolinx standards and specifications is an asset.
- Problem solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and BlueBeam Revu. Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.
- A commitment to safety, environment and quality, with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
