CAD Drafter (SolidWorks exp. req.) Description
Our client, an established provider of engineered components and solutions for heavy industrial applications, is seeking a CAD Drafter to join their team in Langley, BC. This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong SolidWorks skills with an outgoing, customer-focused personality.
This is not a heads-down drafting role. In addition to developing technical drawings and 3D models, you’ll communicate directly with customers to understand their needs, discuss specifications, clarify technical details, and help turn real-world challenges into practical, manufacturable solutions.
The ideal candidate is technically sharp, naturally curious, and an excellent communicator who enjoys working with people. You’ll need the confidence to speak with customers, ask thoughtful questions, explain technical concepts clearly, and build strong working relationships with both internal teams and external clients.
CAD Drafter (SolidWorks exp. req.) Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
- Translate customer requirements into accurate, manufacturable designs
- Communicate directly with customers regarding specifications, measurements, design details, and revisions
- Create and revise technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and production teams on customer solutions
- Maintain BOMs, engineering documentation, and organized CAD files
- Apply GD&T principles and perform tolerance analysis
- Troubleshoot design and production issues
- Support continuous improvement of products and design processes
CAD Drafter (SolidWorks exp. req.) Qualifications
- 3+ years of CAD drafting/design experience required
- Strong SolidWorks proficiency required
- Industrial or manufacturing experience required
• Client-facing/customer-facing experience strongly preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Experience working with the imperial measurement system required
