Job Overview
The Sanitation Associate is mainly responsible for cleaning the warehouse. Performs routine cleaning including vacuuming; sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors, and windows, cleaning racks, and emptying trash. Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Assist service personnel as needed. Assists with snow removal when needed.
Location: 8755 Keele Street, Concord, Ontario
Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
Job Responsibilities
- Cleaning the warehouse distribution center (75%) and corporate office (25%)
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors and windows, and emptying trash.
- Operates floor scrubber
- Operates Walkie Rider to transport and dispose of garbage to compactor.
- Sweeps and vacuums dock plates, sanitation barriers
- Empties garbage bins from all locations in the cooler, freezer, loading docks, offices, and break rooms.
- Empties cardboard and plastic recycling and compacts.
- Keeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper.
- Discards leaking product and records on reconditioning log.
- Reports any violations of company policy to supervisor or coordinator.
- Performs duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
- Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assist with snow removal.
- Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Previous Cleaning/Sanitation experience in a warehouse, food manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Able to work in different temperatures inside the warehouse including Dry Section, Cooler Section, and Freezer Section ( -20 C°)
- Able to lift up[ to 50 lbs when required
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time
- Understands Safety guidelines.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers
- Ability to operate machinery including a Walkie Rider / Electric Pallet Jack
- Understands procedures in different areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time
- Able to work independently and part of a team

- This role requires the associate to perform all duties at the UNFI Canada distribution center in Concord, Ontario.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
