The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry County Library is responsible for providing public library services throughout SD&G. Reporting to the District Supervisor, the Casual Support Assistant (CSA) provides public service library functions on an as needed basis in the SDG Library branches.
Position Details:
Salary: $24.43-$28.58 per hour
Work Location: The successful candidate could be assigned to work in any of the SDG Library branch locations: District 1 (Chesterville, Crysler, Finch, South Mountain, Winchester)
Schedule: Casual position with varying hours per week depending on scheduling and call-in requirements. CSAs may be called on short notice to cover for illness and/or scheduled in advance to support branch operations or events. Branch open hours vary and a typical shift is 3 to 5 hours in length, with exceptions. Branch hours are published on the SDG Library website: Locations | SDG Library | BiblioCommons.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform public service functions at designated locations on an as needed basis which includes circulation, reader’s advisory and reference services.
- Shelve material and ensure the collection is maintained in a neat and organized fashion.
- Assist patrons with accessing Library services, the use of Library computers, and troubleshooting basic technology problems.
- Participate in programs, attend workshops and courses which foster professional or technical development where applicable and approved.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures and report any non-compliance or any possible safety risks.
- Keep accurate daily statistics and perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completed post-secondary education and/or combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- A valid class G driver's license is required.
- Library experience preferred.
- Ability to respond to any location within the call-in pool as required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
- Ability to provide a current satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
