Primary Purpose
The Assistant Plant Manager supports the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the facility. This role partners with the Plant Manager to lead production activities, drive continuous improvement initiatives, oversee maintenance and inventory processes, and develop a high-performing operations team.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily plant operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate facility maintenance programs, equipment repairs, and contractor activities.
- Develop production and logistics schedules to meet customer and business requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement, capital projects, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Supervise, coach, and develop employees while fostering a strong safety culture.
- Manage inventory accuracy, SAP transactions, and material flow across the facility.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain operational procedures, workplace instructions, and equipment documentation.
What You'll Need
- 3+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial operations.
- Experience leading teams in a production environment.
- Knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and SAP or other ERP systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and process information.
- Completion of two years of post-secondary education preferred.
- Experience in chemical manufacturing, distribution, packaging, or other regulated industries preferred.
- Forklift experience and knowledge of hazardous material handling are assets.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial environment.
