Role Description CNC Machinists at Universal Machining & Engineering Ltd. are responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting blueprints, selecting tools, adjusting machine settings, performing routine maintenance checks, and inspecting finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy. The role also involves troubleshooting machining issues, optimizing production runs, and collaborating with supervisors and team members to meet project timelines. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Burnaby, BC, working in a shop environment with a focus on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Machine Operation and Machinery handling for CNC equipment.
- Candidates should possess skills in Machining and Milling for the production of precision parts.
- Candidates should possess skills in Quality Control to inspect and verify parts against specifications.
- Relevant experience with CNC programming or setup, reading technical drawings, and using measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) is beneficial.
- Completion of a machining or industrial trades program, apprenticeship, or equivalent on-the-job experience is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required.
