About The Role
Reporting to and supporting the Controller, the Intermediate Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the company's month-end and year-end financial reporting processes. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys full-cycle accounting, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced environment.
The role will perform journal entries, reconciliations, month-end activities, and financial analysis while working closely with the Controller on accounting processes, reporting, and resolving discrepancies. The Intermediate Accountant will also provide backup support across AP, AR, and Payroll as required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform full-cycle accounting and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close;
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, adjustments, and other month-end entries;
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution;
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records;
- Support the Controller with financial reporting, analysis, reconciliations, and accounting projects;
- Review financial transactions and identify discrepancies, unusual variances, and opportunities for improvement;
- Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules;
- Support project accounting, including job costing, project billing, work-in-progress (WIP), and reconciliation of project costs;
- Review and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other general ledger transactions;
- Provide backup coverage for AP, AR, and Payroll as required;
- Assist with payroll-related accounting, including payroll journal entries, benefits reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments;
- Reconcile bank accounts, corporate credit cards, intercompany transactions, and other accounts as required;
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations;
- Support cash flow reporting and monitor outstanding receivables, payables, and other financial obligations;
- Prepare working papers, supporting schedules, and documentation for year-end audit preparation;
- Work closely with Operations, Project Managers, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and job costing;
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, reporting, and SOPs.

You are analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You take ownership of your work, exercise sound judgment, and aren't afraid to ask questions or challenge processes when something could be done better. You are collaborative, adaptable, and willing to wear multiple hats while supporting the Controller and the broader Finance team.
Our Must Haves
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field;
- CPA designation or working towards designation is considered an asset;
- 3+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience;
- Strong knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations;
- Experience preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts and supporting financial reporting;
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related accounting;
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, QuickBooks Online and/or ServiceTitan is strongly preferred;
- Experience with project accounting, job costing, or work-in-progress (WIP) reporting is considered an asset;
- Experience working in manufacturing, food and beverage, construction, or another project-based environment is considered an asset;
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis;
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

At Uptime, we also offer a very competitive compensation structure that supplements your regular income with a robust benefits package:
- Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 per year
