VFX Producer
Urban Post Production | Toronto, ON | Hybrid
Urban Post Production is seeking an experienced VFX Producer to lead the planning, budgeting, scheduling and delivery of visual effects projects from initial script breakdown through final delivery.
This is a hybrid position combining remote and in-office work at our Toronto facility.
Candidates living within the Greater Toronto Area are preferred.
Working closely with our VFX Supervisor, artists, production team and Picture, Colour and Sound departments, the VFX Producer will balance creative objectives, technical requirements, schedules and budgets across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Create script breakdowns, VFX bids, budgets and production schedules.
- Track project costs, forecasts, change orders and delivery milestones.
- Manage VFX production staff, artists and external vendors.
- Act as a key liaison with producers, post supervisors, directors and clients.
- Oversee VFX turnovers, including EDLs, XMLs, handles, plates and reference materials, ensuring smooth coordination between Editorial, Conform and VFX.
- Coordinate with Picture, Colour and Sound teams to ensure on-time final delivery.
- Identify pipeline efficiencies and help integrate automation and AI-assisted VFX workflows where appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate consideration of client IP, performer likeness rights and data usage when utilizing AI-assisted tools.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a VFX Producer, with demonstrated experience managing VFX projects from turnover through final delivery.
- Strong understanding of the complete VFX pipeline, including compositing, CG, FX and final delivery.
- Proven experience with VFX bidding, budgeting, scheduling, cost tracking and vendor management.
- Experience with ShotGrid / Flow Production Tracking, Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with emerging AI-assisted VFX tools such as Nuke CopyCat, ComfyUI, ControlNet, Runway and FLUX is an asset.
- Candidates based within the Greater Toronto Area are preferred.
