About Valuepath
Valuepath Partners Inc. (Valuepath) is a boutique M&A advisory firm based in Edmonton, Alberta, focused on owner-led businesses in the lower middle market ($10–$50 million Enterprise Value range). We help owners understand their options, prepare for a transaction and navigate the sale process from beginning to end.

Our structure gives team members direct access to experienced M&A professionals, deep industry knowledge and mentorship, as well as a broad network of senior business and industry professionals.
We’re building Valuepath to be the leading M&A advisor to owner-led businesses in the lower middle market in Western Canada, and we’re looking for people who want to help us achieve that goal.
Why Valuepath
At Valuepath, an Associate is a vital part of the deal team. You’ll work directly with senior professionals, peers, business owners, other professional advisors, and counterparties while gaining hands-on experience across the full transaction lifecycle.
You won’t be limited to one piece of a transaction. You’ll take a deep dive into the businesses we advise, contribute meaningfully to client work, and take on greater responsibility as your experience and judgment develop.
This is an opportunity to build beyond your technical foundation and develop the judgment, relationships, and transaction experience required to become a well-rounded M&A advisor.
Your Role
As an Associate, you will support senior professionals throughout the execution of M&A mandates, from client origination to post-close matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyze historical financial statements and identify necessary normalizing adjustments
- Build and prepare technical based analysis, projections, forecasts, and models
- Prepare detailed financial models and perform scenario analysis
- Prepare valuation analysis using a range of valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow analysis, comparable market multiples, and precedent transaction analysis
- Perform market research and analysis, including analysis of key business drivers, as well as risk and opportunity analysis on market, competition, and industry
- Synthesize research to be used in financial modelling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support, and various other applications
- Prepare marketing materials, including pitch decks, teasers, confidential information memorandums, and other transaction-related materials
- Assist in identifying and evaluating prospective acquisition targets, purchasers, and investors
- Communicate directly with clients, other professional advisors, and transaction counterparties throughout the deal process
- Support senior team members in the delivery of high-impact presentations and recommendations to boards, owners, and senior stakeholders
- Build your professional network and relationships in the business community through business development and market-facing activities
- A technology-forward mindset and curiosity about emerging tools that can improve operational efficiency and process execution
Your Background
We are looking for someone with strong technical capabilities who also wants to develop the judgment, communication skills and relationships required to become a well-rounded M&A advisor. The right candidate will have:
- Undergraduate degree in business, with a concentration in accounting or finance
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience in public accounting, corporate finance, M&A advisory, investment banking, corporate banking, private equity or a related field
- CPA designation or successful completion of the CFE
- Commitment to pursue the CBV designation; progress toward or completion of the CBV would be considered an asset
What Makes You a Fit
Success at Valuepath requires strong technical skills, but just as importantly, good judgment, curiosity and a willingness to take ownership. You’ll need to be comfortable managing competing priorities, adapting as transactions evolve and working closely with both clients and the broader deal team.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- High motivation and strong career aspirations, with the work ethic to match
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to take ownership of work
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities, information and deadlines can change
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients and other transaction stakeholders
- Clear written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling capabilities
- A technology-forward mindset and an interest in using emerging tools to work smarter and improve how we serve our clients
- Experience with financial analysis and modelling, including working capital and cash flow analysis; experience with transaction or synergy analysis is an asset
- A strong working knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE and IFRS)
- A team-first mindset and willingness to step in where needed to deliver a strong outcome for our clients
- A desire to improve how we work, share knowledge, and contribute beyond immediate responsibilities

- Competitive compensation with meaningful opportunity for performance-based variable compensation
- Support to pursue the CBV designation
- Meaningful client exposure and direct involvement with business owners, buyers and other advisors on active transactions
