Teach a range of undergraduate mathematics courses. The department offers programs leading to both BA and BSc degrees (minors and majors) and is seeking individuals to actively contribute to program growth. Teaching duties range from introductory service courses at the first- and second-year level to upper-level mathematics courses (300-level and above) listed on the departmental website. Duties may also include supervision of students completing the senior MATH 491 Undergraduate Research Project course.
Applications are encouraged from qualified candidates from any field of mathematics or statistics who are seeking a long and successful career primarily in teaching. Applicants should identify the upper-level courses they are particularly well suited to teach and suggest topics beyond the regular calendar offerings that they could offer through the MATH 370 and MATH 470 Topics in Mathematics courses.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics from an appropriately accredited institution.
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and commitment to a team-based working culture.
- A commitment to, and understanding of, the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom and workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with course and program development.
- Experience with online learning management systems such as D2L.
