VB Rail provides professional railway training and consulting services to more than 100 clients across Quebec and Eastern Canada. Our clients include major industrial and mining companies as well as well established industrial sites. We deliver practical training adapted to each client’s railway operations, equipment, and workforce.
Role Description
We are seeking two experienced locomotive engineers and/or train conductors interested in sharing their expertise as railway trainers.
These positions involve frequent travel to client facilities throughout Quebec and Eastern Canada, with candidates preferably based in Quebec. Your primary responsibility is to train and assess railway personnel through classroom instruction and practical field training.
You will help employees develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to work safely in industrial railway environments. Responsibilities include delivering training, demonstrating safe work practices, evaluating participants, and adapting instruction to each client’s operational needs.
This is a dedicated training role, not an operating assignment or a position at one fixed client site.
Qualifications
• Hands-on experience as a locomotive engineer and/or train conductor.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian railway operating rules, safe work practices, and industrial railway operations.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and coach people with different levels of experience.
• Strong communication skills in French; English is an asset for assignments elsewhere in Eastern Canada.
• Professionalism, sound judgment, and confidence working directly with clients.
• Willingness and availability to travel regularly.
• Previous training, mentoring, or employee qualification experience is an asset.
