Position Summary:
The Production Technician performs repair of manufacturing product assemblies and systems by diagnosing mechanical, hardware, software and infrastructure related failures using established tools, equipment and existing support/troubleshooting documentation. They will also perform maintenance on line equipment and test fixtures as they have been prescribed as part of a preventative maintenance program.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Troubleshoot and repair product failures using applicable tools, equipment and support documentation to ensure your team meets its daily, weekly and quarterly volume and quality targets
- Perform prescribed work station and equipment preventative maintenance procedures
- Identify product failure patterns and record pertinent information such as quantity of units and attempted non-successful troubleshooting actions and report this information to your supervisor for further investigation and mitigation/resolution
- Utilize all error logging/tracking software within manufacturing to help report and trend on product and process the ticket services, Material Desk (MD), IT Service Desk correctly to report problems and issues by including all symptom information and following posted work instructions
- Submit material requisition tickets through the material desk as parts are needed which are not immediately available to you on the line
- Basic soldering and mechanical assembly as required to process product repairs
- General comprehension of how and why data is collected for unit test results and yields in order to better allocate your technical skill and knowledge on the right failure at the right time
- Support Manufacturing Operators with work station or test jig issues as they impact overall line goals/unit quality specifications
- Regular use of all Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), this includes daily testing as required by policy
- Assist in setting up and dismantling of product line layouts
Position requirements:
- Diploma or Certificate indicating completion of an Electronics Technician and/or Technologist course from a Canadian Recognized Post-Secondary Institution or equivalent
- Bachelor degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent is preferred
- Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a repair or design technician in a similar capacity
- 2-5 years’ experience repairing multiple product types is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the theory and operation of manufacturing test and diagnostic tools which can be used to develop or improve upon existing tools
- Intimate knowledge of how Vecima Products work at a circuit, software and component level
- Knowledge of design methodologies for both product and test development
- Must have good organizational skills
- Effective training ability and a desire to learn
- Must be able to work in a team
- Knowledgeable of the theory and operation of manufacturing test and diagnostic tools
- Technically & mechanically inclined and able to interpret schematic diagrams & blueprints
- Technical & mechanical troubleshooting skills
