Original job description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To operate all production plants and equipment in a safe, environmentally compliant and effective manner, as part of a team to meet production schedules and targets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow defined process instructions and quality procedures for the manufacture of our chemical products.
Receiving/unloading of bulk raw materials, loading/dispatch of bulk product and packing out and labelling of product as required.
Carry out QC laboratory testing.
To prepare the plant for maintenance work.
Ensure that complete and accurate handover occurs between shifts.
To take prompt and appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
Take an active part in accident/incident investigations.
Maintain a good standard of housekeeping of the plant and adjacent areas.
Maintain good, accurate process records on time and in full.
Conduct safety, environmental, production and housekeeping checks and audits
Submit maintenance requisitions and incident reports where necessary.
Communicate effectively with line management, other departments and contractors to ensure the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the plant.
Use of an ERP system to ensure timely booking of batches and to monitor raw material, finished product and order status.
Use of Fork Lift Truck as required to meet the demands of the job.
To assist Maintenance or Logistics team members as instructed by Team Leader/Line Management.
To provide training of other team members as required.
Identify potential problems and take appropriate action in co-ordination with Senior Operator and Shift Team Leader.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for candidates experience of working in large volume manufacturing processes
Knowledge of COSHH and safe handling of chemicals and equipment is essential
Knowledge of surfactant chemicals is advantageous
The ability to work as part of a team is essential
Counter balance FLT licence
WORKING HOURS: 4 days on, 4 days off, Monday to Sunday, with the 4 working days consisting of 2 Day shifts (6am-6pm) and 2 Night shifts (6pm-6am).
