Role Description The Clinical Assistant – Bilingual role is a full-time, on-site position based in Casselman, ON. This role supports day-to-day clinic operations by assisting healthcare providers with patient intake, history collection, and documentation, including accurate use of medical terminology. The Clinical Assistant greets and prepares patients for visits, updates electronic medical records, and helps coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up care. Responsibilities include supporting patient education, answering questions in a clear and respectful manner in both languages, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient clinic environment. The role also involves collaborating with clinical and administrative teams, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to clinic protocols and safety standards.
- QualificationsStrong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse patients and care teams.
- Proficiency in Medical Terminology and foundational knowledge of Medicine to support accurate documentation and effective provider assistance.
- Demonstrated Patient Care skills, including empathy, professionalism, and the ability to support individuals in a clinical setting.
- Ability to conduct basic Research related to patient information, clinic processes, or best practices as directed by clinical staff.
- Previous experience in a clinical, primary care, or walk-in clinic environment is an asset.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Completion of a medical office assistant, clinical assistant, or related healthcare program, or equivalent experience.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Administration & OperationsFront desk coverage:
- Check‑in/out, OHIP/third‑party billing details at intake, appointment scheduling, and payment processing for uninsured services.
- Scan, index, and maintain accurate electronic charts; uphold PHIPA privacy/confidentiality.
- Inventory management: order, receive, and rotate supplies; maintain vaccine logs and cold chain records.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI), safety huddles, and process optimization.
- QualificationsMedical Office Assistant diploma or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Knowledge of EMRs and clinical workflows is an asset
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset (training may be provided)
