Role: Senior Protection Engineer
Company: Viking Global Technologies, Inc.’s majority-owned subsidiary, Viking Protection Systems, LLC ,is seeking a highly experienced electric-utility protection engineer to help advance the utility evaluation and deployment of its proprietary algorithm-based broken conductor protection technology. The role offers an opportunity to work directly with the technology’s inventors and engage utility protection teams on challenging real-world applications.
Nature of Engagement: Initially structured as a part-time, consulting or advisory engagement, with potential to expand as technical programs and commercialization progress. The successful candidate will strengthen senior engineering capacity, contribute independent technical judgment and help establish repeatable evidence supporting broader utility deployment.
Experience Sought: Approximately 10+ years of progressive power-system protection experience; strong transmission and/or distribution relaying expertise; practical relay settings, coordination and disturbance-analysis experience; familiarity with microprocessor relays and secondaryinjection testing; and EMTP or comparable modeling capability. Knowledge of symmetrical components, negativesequence quantities, sensitive ground-fault protection and difficult-to-detect events is particularly valuable. Former principal engineers, senior utility protection leaders, independent consultants and experienced professionals from utilities, protection equipment manufacturers or engineering firms are encouraged to inquire. Experience with IEEE protection forums, wildfire mitigation or novel protection schemes is an advantage. Professional Engineer registration is desirable but not essential for an otherwise exceptional candidate.
Location: United States or Canada preferred. Travel to utility meetings, testing facilities and industry conferences as needed.
