Role Description The Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Hamilton, ON. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing journal entries, and reconciling accounts on a regular basis. Day-to-day tasks include managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing and updating financial statements, and handling invoicing and payment tracking. The individual in this position will work with accounting software to record transactions, support month-end and year-end close processes, and assist with financial reporting for management. Collaboration with operations and logistics teams to ensure proper costing, billing accuracy, and compliance with company policies is also a key part of the role.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in transportation or logistics is an asset.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
