The position
As Head of Clinical Services & Governance, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across clinical services, clinical governance, quality, policy, compliance and audit readiness within VMCH Care at Home.
You will lead the oversight of nursing and allied health services, ensuring care is safe, effective, evidence-based and person-centred, while strengthening the systems that support clinical quality, professional practice and regulatory compliance.
As a key member of the Care at Home leadership team, you will partner across Care Partnering, Service Delivery, Growth and corporate functions to embed clinical safety, quality and compliance into everyday operations.

The Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across nursing and allied health services, establishing clear expectations for clinical practice, professional accountability and safe, consistent care.
- Lead and continuously strengthen the Care at Home Clinical Governance Framework, including clinical risk, incidents, complaints, quality outcomes and improvement activities.
- Oversee quality, policy and compliance functions, ensuring regulatory and professional requirements are translated into practical and effective operational systems.
- Drive ongoing accreditation, audit and regulatory readiness, ensuring risks, findings and improvement actions are effectively managed and embedded into practice.
- Lead, support and develop clinical, quality, policy and compliance teams while contributing to Care at Home strategy, growth, transformation and sector reform.
What’s Required
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), supported by a relevant tertiary qualification in nursing, health or a related discipline.
- Substantial senior leadership experience within aged care, community health, home care, disability or another relevant health service environment, including leadership of nursing, clinical or multidisciplinary services.
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience across clinical governance, quality management, clinical risk, professional practice, compliance, accreditation and audit readiness.
- Strong understanding of aged care legislation, regulatory requirements, professional scope of practice, clinical delegation and workforce competency, with the ability to translate these requirements into practical operational systems.
- Strong people leadership, stakeholder engagement, influencing and change management skills, with the ability to balance client outcomes, clinical safety, regulatory requirements and operational priorities.
A postgraduate qualification in health service management, clinical governance, nursing leadership, quality, risk or a related discipline will be highly regarded, as will experience in home care or community-based aged care.
