About This Opportunity
The
Child and Youth Program Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, delivery and growth of children and youth programs at AFIWI Groove School. Working closely with the AFIWI team, the Coordinator helps create safe, engaging and culturally affirming opportunities that encourage creativity, confidence, leadership, participation and community connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate youth and teen programs, workshops, leadership activities and community events.
- Support the planning and day-to-day organization of program activities, schedules and participant needs.
- Assist with community outreach to engage children, youth and families in AFIWI programs.
- Support participant registration, onboarding, attendance tracking and program documentation.
- Communicate with youth, parents/guardians, instructors, volunteers and community partners as required.
- Help promote programs and youth initiatives through approved social media, email communication and community outreach.
- Support youth leadership and mentorship opportunities that encourage confidence, responsibility and community involvement.
- Maintain basic program records and participation information to support reporting and evaluation.
- Identify participant needs, emerging concerns or barriers to participation and communicate these to the appropriate AFIWI Lead or Direct of Operations
- Work collaboratively with instructors, volunteers and the AFIWI leadership team to strengthen program quality and youth engagement.
- Follow AFIWI's safeguarding, privacy, incident-reporting and professional-boundary requirements when working with children, youth and families.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in youth empowerment and community development and will be comfortable building positive relationships with young people and families.

- Comfortable using email, online registration systems, forms and basic digital tools.
- Respectful of confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding requirements.
- Committed to creating inclusive, culturally affirming and welcoming environments for children and youth.
