VStream Labs Inc. is hiring an experienced Business Analyst for a Toronto-based contract opportunity. You will lead requirements discovery, translate complex business needs into practical technology solutions, and work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, and QA teams.
This opportunity suits a hands-on professional with experience delivering medium-to-large technology projects, facilitating workshops, and developing business cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead workshops, interviews, and requirements reviews to document business needs, processes, models, rules, and user-interface requirements.
- Translate complex requirements into user stories, use cases, functional specifications, and manageable Agile deliverables.
- Support UX, functional, and technical design throughout iterative development.
- Develop context diagrams, process maps, stakeholder maps, system diagrams, and conceptual and logical data models.
- Prepare business cases, options analyses, cost-benefit analyses, feasibility studies, budget estimates, and ROI assessments.
- Apply enterprise business architecture principles to recommend solutions aligned with organizational standards.
- Maintain requirements traceability and support QA and user acceptance testing.
- Conduct change-impact assessments and support training, communication, and end-user adoption.
- Identify risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Support production issue resolution, configuration management, and vendor proposal evaluations.
- Define performance measures and evaluate business-analysis outcomes.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Consultant on medium-to-large projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead requirements workshops covering business processes, models, rules, and user-interface design.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience breaking complex requirements into development deliverables.
- Hands-on experience creating user stories and supporting UX, functional, and technical designs.
- Experience applying enterprise business architecture concepts to technology recommendations.
- Experience developing business cases from initiation through completion.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
Additional Relevant Experience
- Requirements gathering through workshops, interviews, JAD sessions, and mockups.
- Business-process reengineering, requirements traceability, and performance measurement.
- SDLC, enterprise integration, database concepts, user-centred design, QA, and UAT.
- Change management, risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
- Business-analysis and modelling tools such as Azure DevOps, Microsoft Visio, Figma, and CASE tools.
- Technical leadership, service delivery, and project or resource coordination.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Ontario Public Service or other public-sector experience.
- Knowledge of information-management principles and information retrieval tools.
- Experience translating business and data requirements into detailed solution specifications.
- Experience with business functional modelling, event modelling, and process mapping.
- Familiarity with structured, object-oriented, and Agile requirements methodologies.
- Knowledge of AODA accessibility requirements and related standards.
Work Arrangement and Compensation
- Contract opportunity.
- Toronto, Ontario.
- Onsite attendance required five days per week.
- CAD $70–75 per hour.
