Job Description
The Jr. Craftsmanship team member will be the leader of new soft wrapped product development i.e. Automotive Interior Upholstery. The team member will help analyze and provide feedback on new or existing OEM products to VTCA Development team. The team member will also lead development activities for new technologies or processes for the soft trim automotive market.

Position Description
- Comfortable operating sewing machines to develop various Decorative and functional stitches
- Able to hand wrap various kinds of skin material (Leather, Vinyl, Cloth & Suede) to plastic substrates with the help of adhesives and staples.
- Use CAD tools to analyze and review new shapes of soft trim during Design & development phase and summarize all the issue within the Design review process.
- Utilize CAD tools such as Siemens NX and CATIA V5 to create and update 2D Drawings for skin patterns.
- Conduct material testing of soft trims with use of lab tools such as Instron machine and create a database for future reference.
- Use of 2D cutter equipment to generate skin patterns and improve material yield for mass production processes.
- Support engineering team with prototyping and technical analysis of new shapes and summarize in reports and presentation for customer feedback.
- Liaison with Vuteq manufacturing facilities to share the proposed mass production process for new programs.
- Working with hand and power tools for wrapping process i.e. blades, ultrasonic welder etc.
- Develop and cut skin patterns suited for respected shapes while thinking about ergonomics.
- Recommend changes to shape to improve the quality of wrapping while maintaining the ease of manufacturability.
- Evaluate existing Vuteq products and analyze the current wrapping & sewing processes.
- Develop DWIs & Best practices to execute certain shapes for future reference.
- Benchmarking: Researching relevant competitors’ products and reverse engineer to execute same designs
- Work with different adhesive application techniques such as spraying, peel & stick etc. to adhere skin to substrates.
- Maintain 5S in working areas while performing respected duties.
- Able to make reports of the task carried out and share with Engineering team.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum Grade 12 or Successful completion of a two-year college diploma is considered an asset
Experience
- General mechanical inclination and knowledge of automotive interior manufacturing
- Prior knowledge of sewing and wrapping is considered an asset (professional or hobby)
(Training will be provided for all the tasks carried out)

- Ability to provide accurate results through analytical ability while testing and assessing prototypes
- Sense of creativity while deciding new directions of products
- Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving
- High attention to detail when administering tests on prototypes

- Ability to bring together information and assemble reports for presentations
