Wabtec Foundry, in Wallaceburg, Ontario, is a business unit within Wabtec Corporation’s Components Division. Originally founded in the 1930’s, Wabtec Foundry is an Iron & Aluminum Foundry that focuses on producing products to support Wabtec’s extensive product line for the Rail Industry; Freight Car Components, Locomotive, Transit, as well as various other Industrial markets.
Who will you be working with?
Wabtec Foundry is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team. You will work closely with other Team members in Maintenance as well as other members of the Team such as Production, Scheduling, Quality and Management. You will also be expected to work independently and in conjunction with others to help maintain the goals and objectives of the plant, which is primarily focused on Safety, Productivity, Quality and On-time Delivery to our Customers.

- Work closely with all Coworkers, Team Members and Management to ensure equipment is performing safely and optimally, to support the Team and the business objectives.

What do we want to know about you?
- Experience in foundry, casting or other metal production would be an asset.
- Technical knowledge of Foundry-related processes would also be an asset.
- Experience in sand moulding or related processes would be an asset.
- 5 or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred
- Millwright, Machine Repair, Industrial experience, electrical or welding certifications.
- Basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory
- Knowledge of PLC programming is preferred.
- Strong organization skills and proven ability in problem solving and process improvements.
- Post-Secondary education in a related field would be an asset.
- Ability to effectively communicate with management, Suppliers, Customers and Production Team.
- Strong computer application skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications.
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have access to reliable transportation
What will your typical day look like?
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed to support Wabtec’s EHS policies and procedures.
- Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn for the entirety of the shift.
- Work with all Team Members to support them in their success as well, in order to support business objectives.
- Maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and production maintenance systems and processes
- Maintains production equipment in good safe operating condition while optimizing equipment uptime
- Improves reliability and operating efficiency of plant equipment.
- Conducts preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to ensure operation of all equipment, in an efficient and safe manner.
- Provide technical guidance on machine setup and standard operating procedures.
- Fabricate parts, as required.
- Supports site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a work place that is clean and safe.
- Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed
- Checks and refills lubricant reservoirs, applies grease to lubricant points, inspects machinery while performing scheduled preventative maintenance
- Operates shop tools, equipment, and as many machines related to maintenance as skill level will permit
- Able to make repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling all or parts of machinery to repair or replace defective components
- Assists in electrical projects and performs minor electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Understands basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 110 VAC control circuitries
- Assists in pipe fitting tasks and able to perform some installation tasks unassisted
- Performs certain portions of repairs to power industrial equipment, assists in rebuilding of related equipment
- Maintains and services a range of building equipment such as HVAC, lighting, water and sewer, etc.
- Assists in the installation and setup of new plant equipment
- Participate in a team atmosphere to troubleshoot and solve issues, as well as generate ideas on how to improve equipment performance, efficiency and safety.
The successful candidate will be required to work on-site, with no hybrid time working from home (40-hour on-site workweek – 8-hour days). Overtime may be required at times.

The wage rate for this role is currently
$34.50 to $36.59 per hour.
