Original job description

Working at Walker

At Walker, your contribution matters. Become part of a team you can count on and where your health and safety are our priority. Our team of more than 1200 people work in environmental waste management and recovery, renewable energy, paving and construction, aggregates, and emulsions chemistries. We are a fifth-generation, family-owned company founded in 1887, operating from our base in the Niagara Region with facilities across Canada and the United States. We care about the environment, each other, and our neighbours, and give back to our communities. Join us on our journey to build a sustainable future, together.

We are looking for Class 1 Driver with Airbrake endorsement at our Walker Grease Trap Services - New Westminster location. Starting rate of $36.09, with increases the next two years.

About the Job

Ready to roll into a career that makes a difference? We're on the lookout for a Class 1 Driver who cares about the planet, values teamwork, and thrives on hands-on work. As part of our frontline operations team, you'll be the face of our grease trap collection and cleaning service - helping keep local businesses and ecosystems clean and compliant.

This is more than just driving - it's about delivering outstanding customer service and making a positive environmental impact every single day.

What You'll Be Doing

Conduct daily vehicle inspections to keep operations safe and smooth
Collect preprocessed materials, clean grease traps, and deliver processed products to customers
Work within and promote a strong health and safety culture
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve how we work
Perform routine vehicle maintenance and report issues proactively
Represent the company with professionalism and care - both on the road and on-site
Be flexible with shifts and occasional overtime when needed
Ensure compliance with AIT regulations

Here's What You Need

If you're driven, safety-minded, and ready to learn, we want to hear from you! Here's what will help you succeed:

Valid BC Class 1 Driver’s License with Airbrake endorsement
Clean driver's abstract and criminal record
Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
Physically fit - able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle manual tasks

What’s in it for you

You become part of a team you can count on
A comprehensive benefits package as per your union and collective agreement
A workplace that provides the best health & safety practices in industry
Give back to our community with two paid volunteer days annually and opportunities to become involved in events

Whether you’re just starting out or ready for a change, this is your chance to get behind the wheel of a role that helps protect people and the planet.

At Walker, your contribution matters. If you share our commitment to giving back to your community and caring about the environment we’d love to hear from you. Our workplaces strive to reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate. We welcome applications from qualified candidates of all ethnicities, race, religions, gender identities and expression, Indigenous communities, and persons with disabilities.

Should you require any accommodation in applying for this role, or throughout the interview process, please let us know when contacted and we will work with you to meet your needs. We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.

Apply now and start driving toward a greener future!
