About the Job
Reporting to the General Manager – Construction Niagara, the Construction Manager serves as a key operational leader, accountable for delivering exceptional project results while developing people and strengthening client relationships. This position leads multiple construction teams and provides oversight of project execution, financial performance, risk management, safety, quality, and operational planning. Through strong leadership and sound business judgment, the Construction Manager ensures the organization consistently exceeds customer expectations while meeting its safety, operational, and profitability objectives. Salary range for this role is between $100,000-$140,000/year based on qualifications and experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Analyzes budgets created from bids and works with project coordinators and supervisors to achieve project budgets and profit margins
Oversees workloads and provides staff supervision to ensure that work is done safely, accurately, efficiently and complies with policies, procedures and regulations as well as best working practices
Provides guidance, motivation, and performance review including hiring and terminating employees, to maintain and enhance competency levels, identify future training requirements and achieve goals to increase performance
Visits job sites, performs safety and quality of workmanship inspections. Oversees Project Superintendents to ensure site crews have the necessary supplies, equipment and training to maintain a safe work environment.
Maintain close relationship with asphalt plant staff to drive coordination and efficiency between production & laydown operations
Works closely and cooperatively with customers and their representatives to affect positive outcomes and foster strong working relationships on projects.
As a member of the senior management team, works with the GM to assist with creating capital and operating budgets to allocate sufficient funds as required for effective management and monitors costs to ensure adherence to the budget
Analyzes data, prepares presentations, creates reports, and attends meetings to provide and communicate information to GM and construction executives
Attends industry association functions, committee meetings, and seminars to keep current of applicable information to support business growth as required
Work with maintenance shop staff to ensure key pieces of equipment are serviced and ready for the season
Here’s What You Need
Demonstrated leadership experience in the heavy civil construction sector, specifically, paving, road building, site servicing and Municipal reconstruction.
Minimum high school graduation, or equivalent level of education.
Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, civil engineering technology, or a related discipline is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant construction leadership experience will be considered.
- 7+ years of civil construction industry experience including supervisory skills. Candidates with sewer & underground construction experience preferred.
- A valid G Registration Ontario Driver’s License.
