Brief Description
Summary: The Quality Control Technician performs required QC inspections and testing to verify that manufactured products meet established quality requirements. The position maintains the QC testing schedule, completes Boil & Pull Tests, confirms each production order has the required test sample, records all results, and initiates corrective action for non-conformance. The role works with Production and Engineering to maintain traceability, accurate records, and timely communication of quality issues. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Duties To Include (not Limited To)
- Perform all required QC inspections, tests, and verification activities according to established procedures and product requirements.
- Complete Boil & Pull Tests according to the established QC testing schedule.
- Verify every production order has the required QC test sample available for testing.
- Maintain clear identification and traceability of QC samples to the correct production order.
- Document and record all inspection and test results accurately and promptly.
- Maintain the QC schedule, test records, and related quality files.
- Review results against acceptance requirements and identify non-conforming product, samples, or test results.
- Identify or segregate non-conforming material as required and communicate issues to appropriate personnel.
- Issue Corrective Action Reports for non-conformance and include complete supporting information.
- Maintain and follow up Corrective Action records until required actions are completed.
- Use spreadsheets and computer systems for QC data entry, reports, records, and tracking.
- Report recurring quality issues or trends and support continuous improvement activities.
A Chamclad Quality Control Technical will possess and/or demonstrate the ability to:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize conditions that do not meet requirements.
- Strong computer proficiency, including spreadsheets, email, data entry, and electronic documents.
- Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and traceable QC records and test documentation.
- Ability to follow testing schedules, work instructions, procedures, and acceptance criteria consistently.
- Ability to organize and track multiple production orders and QC samples.
- Effectively communicate quality issues and test results across departments.
- Ability to prioritize QC tasks and complete scheduled testing and documentation on time.
- Positive and professional approach to quality, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Education / Experience
- Technical certification, diploma or equivalent experience in Quality, Manufacturing or a related field is an asset.
- Computer proficiency is required, including Microsoft Excel, email, data entry, and electronic document handling.
- Previous manufacturing or Quality Control experience is an asset but is not required.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, QC test methods, and written procedures.
Working Demands / Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on the production floor and lift up to 50 pounds as required.
