Position Summary
Weber is growing, and our quality team is growing with us. As demand for our products and our production volumes increase, we are adding a Quality Assurance Specialist to strengthen the team and keep our standards high on every shift.
This is a hybrid role, split evenly between quality engineering support and hands-on plant inspection. You will work alongside our Quality Manager and the manufacturing/ engineering teams and be on the production floor every day, working with production and giving real-time feedback. With this addition, we will:
- Build a stronger Quality presence on the floor, with someone working alongside production day in and day out.
- Balance the workload of our Quality Engineering function as we grow.
- Add a consistent team member to meet our growing need for inspections and data collection.
Quality Assurance Specialist – Quality Engineering Support (50%)
- Take ownership of quality-related activities currently handled by Product/Design Engineering.
- Investigate internal and external quality issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify their effectiveness.
- Support customer complaints, non-conformance reports, and quality documentation.
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, inspection standards, and quality work instructions.
- Analyze quality data to identify recurring defects, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Support internal audits and compliance with the company's Quality Management System.
- Work with Engineering, Production, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
- Provide quality-related training and guidance to production employees as required.
Plant Quality Inspection (50%)
- Perform first-off, in-process, and last-off inspections.
- Validate shift-start tests (glue weight, paint hardness, adhesion, gloss, etc.).
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records for SPC plotting, available on customer request.
- Identify, segregate, and document non-conforming materials.
- Promptly communicate defects and process concerns to Production and Quality leadership.
- Support new-product launches and process changes.
- Monitor the condition and proper use of inspection and measurement equipment.
- Assist with gauge calibration and other plant-level quality functions.
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma or certificate in a technical field, or equivalent manufacturing quality experience.
- Working knowledge of root-cause analysis, CAPA, and non-conformance reporting.
- Experience reading drawings and specifications and using gauges and measuring equipment.
- Comfort with data entry and SPC charting, including Excel.
- Clear communication with production staff, suppliers, and leadership.
- Willingness to work on the plant floor and follow safety requirements.
Asset
- Experience with PFMEAs and control plans.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or another Quality Management System and internal audits.
- Background in composites, foam, paint, or adhesive processes.
- Quality certifications (for example ASQ CQT, CQI, or CQA).
