Senior Accounting Technician - Montreal (across from Royalmount) · Full-time, permanent
Do you love it when the numbers add up, and are you ready to lead a small team? Weeve provides close to 900 electric and hybrid vehicles on subscription to drivers on ride-hailing apps such as Uber, in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. To support our growth, we are looking for a Senior Accounting Technician.
Your mission
Reporting to the CFO, you are the hub of day-to-day accounting operations for Weeve and its three entities (Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia). You supervise our accounting clerks, make sure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, and play an active role in month-end close. You are the person the team turns to when an entry raises a question, and the one the CFO counts on for clean books and a close with no surprises.
Your responsibilities
- Day-to-day accounting cycle
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable for the three entities.
- Assign and prioritize the accounting clerks' work and track deadlines.
- Review their entries (accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, reconciliations) and correct, or have corrected, any errors.
- Train new team members, answer their questions and help them grow.
- Document and maintain the team's accounting procedures.
- Prepare or review bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Keep intercompany transactions up to date.
- Prepare GST/QST/HST returns and support payroll processing and source deduction remittances.
- Month-end and year-end
- Take part in monthly closes according to the schedule set with the CFO.
- Record adjusting entries (accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, fleet depreciation, vehicle financing).
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare the working papers that support the close.
- Prepare the documents requested by the external auditors at year-end.
- Continuous improvement
- Spot repetitive tasks and suggest ways to simplify or automate them in QuickBooks Online and Excel.
- Help strengthen the team's internal controls.
Your profile
- DEC in accounting and management techniques, AEC or bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA in progress is an asset.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, including significant month-end experience (adjusting entries, balance sheet reconciliations).
- Prior supervisory experience is an asset.
- Comfortable with QuickBooks Online (or equivalent accounting software) and strong Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Canadian sales taxes (GST/QST/HST); multi-entity or multi-province experience is an asset.
- Rigour, strong organization and the ability to juggle several deadlines at once.
- Supportive leadership: you give clear feedback and help the people around you grow.
- Fluent French. Working English required for exchanges with our Toronto and Vancouver entities and our suppliers outside Quebec.
Why Weeve?
- Real impact: we are redefining smart, sustainable mobility in Canada.
- Agile, human team: fast-growing and close to its customers.
- A role that helps you grow: supervision from day one and direct exposure to the CFO and multi-entity closes.
- Concrete challenges: a fleet, three provinces, and processes to build and improve.
What we offer
- Salary of $75,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.
- 4 weeks of vacation.
- Health and lifestyle expense account.
- Benefit sharing program.
- Permanent, full-time position based in Montreal, across from Royalmount, in person.
