About Weld Plus:
Weld Plus is a steel fabrication and field services company based in North York, operating across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We handle structural steel framing, miscellaneous metal fabrication, in-house engineering support, and on-site field erection for commercial, industrial, and utility infrastructure projects. Our work covers everything from heavy carbon steel framing and stairs to specialty aluminum buswork for power utilities. We focus on strict engineering compliance, safety, and executing work correctly from shop fabrication to final site installation.
Role Description:
We are actively hiring experienced tradespeople for two key roles: Professional Welders (Shop Fabrication & Field) and Structural Steel Erectors / Metal Installers (On-Site Assembly). Candidates can apply for either specialty or a dual shop/field role based on their qualifications.
Role A: Professional Welder (Shop & Field)
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute structural welding in shop and field environments in accordance with standard CSA W47.1 requirements.
- Perform multi-process welding (Stick/SMAW, MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, FCAW) across carbon steel, stainless steel, specialty aluminum, and alloys.
- Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
- Lay out, fit, cut, gouge, and prep structural members, including beams, columns, HSS framing, mezzanines, catwalks, stairs, and handrails.
- Assist with on-site field erection, fit-ups, crane sequencing, structural tie-ins, and modifications on live job sites.
Role B: Steel Erector/ Metal Installer (Field Erection)
Key Responsibilities:
- Unload, position, align, and erect structural steel members (columns, beams, HSS framing, open web steel joists, decking) according to erection drawings.
- Install miscellaneous metals including commercial staircases, handrails, guardrails, catwalks, platforms, and access steel.
- Perform field rigging, signal mobile/overhead cranes, and guide load placement during erection sequencing.
- Execute mechanical connections (bolting, torquing, alignment) and field prep for structural tie-ins.
- Adhere strictly to fall protection protocols, participate in daily safety meetings, and maintain 100% safety compliance at heights.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Work Authorization: Valid legal authorization to work in Ontario, Canada.
- Mandatory Credentials (By Role):
- For Welders: Active CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification for structural welding is required. TSSA tickets are a strong asset.
- For Erectors: Active Working at Heights certification is mandatory. Aerial Work Platform (AWP) and Rigging tickets are assets.
- Technical & Trade Experience: Hands-on trade experience in steel fabrication, fit-ups, or site erection; ability to read structural drawings and erection plans.
- Mobility & Safety: Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to report to job sites across Toronto and the GTA.
