Brewing & Blending Manager
Full-Time Permanent|
$26.00 $30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Wellington Brewery | Guelph, ON
At Wellington Brewery, we’ve been crafting beer with purpose since 1985. While we’re proud of our roots in craft beer, we’re equally focused on our future - continuing to innovate across beer, cider and ready-to-drink beverages while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship we’re known for.
We're looking for a Brewing and Blending Manager to lead our brewing operations and liquid preparation activities. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for producing high-quality liquid safely, consistently, and efficiently while developing the brewing team and driving operational performance.
If you’re equally comfortable leading people, analyzing production results, solving process challenges, and rolling up your sleeves to brew and blend when needed, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Brewing and Blending Manager, you'll lead Wellington's brewing operation from raw material receipt through liquid production and blending, maintaining accountability for all liquid until it is formally handed over to the Cellaring team.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead all brewing and liquid preparation activities across beer, RTD, and non-beer products.
- Remain actively involved in day-to-day brewing operations while providing leadership and direction to the brewing team.
- Develop, refine, and scale recipes and formulations while supporting new product development, innovation, and R&D initiatives.
- Ensure recipes, brewing procedures, product specifications, and production schedules are executed safely, consistently, and efficiently.
- Maintain accountability for all liquid quality, consistency, traceability, and readiness through handoff to the Cellaring team.
- Monitor brewing performance, yields, losses, throughput, and schedule adherence, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and ingredient utilization.
- Investigate production variances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions and process improvements to improve future performance.
- Prepare and communicate production reports, including yield performance, ingredient utilization, operational efficiencies, quality metrics, and production outcomes.
- Manage yeast programs, raw materials, and brewing resources to support production requirements and product quality.
- Lead, coach, and develop Production Brewers while ensuring compliance with GMP, food safety, quality, regulatory, and workplace safety requirements.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Brewing, Fermentation Science, Food Science, or a related discipline.
- 4–6 years of commercial brewing experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Experience leading or supervising brewing teams in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of brewing science, fermentation, process control, recipe execution, and quality systems.
- Experience with production reporting, performance metrics, inventory control, and operational planning.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, mechanical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with GMP, HACCP, and food manufacturing standards.
- RTD, blending, or non-beer beverage manufacturing experience is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to translate technical information into operational actions.
What Makes Someone Successful Here
- You take ownership of both results and the processes that drive them.
- You can explain not only what happened, but why it happened and what needs to change moving forward.
- You enjoy developing people and building strong technical teams.
- You balance hands-on operational involvement with strategic thinking.
- You thrive in environments that are evolving and growing.
- You continuously look for ways to improve quality, efficiency, consistency, and team performance.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, wet, noisy, and physically demanding manufacturing environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, and moving throughout the facility.
- Exposure to brewing ingredients, production chemicals, hot liquid, and manufacturing equipment.
- Flexibility to support occasional early starts, weekend production, or operational requirements outside regular business hours.
