Location: Prince George, Kamloops, or Kelowna, British Columbia | Office-based, periodic fieldwork
Industry: Consulting Engineering | Civil and Transportation Infrastructure
Employment: Full-Time, Direct Hire | Senior, practice lead succession track
The Opportunity
We are partnering with a consulting engineering firm with offices across British Columbia. It is hiring a senior civil engineer to anchor one of its BC offices and step onto a succession path for the current local practice lead.
The work is general civil: transportation, municipal, site development, airports, and water. Structural is outside the scope. You will design, run projects, and build long-term client relationships, and over time take on leadership of the local practice, including its strategy, client accounts, delivery, and team development.
Your projects serve communities across a regional, resource-driven part of the province, so local context counts as much as technical depth.
What You'll Own
Design and delivery
- Lead and review civil design deliverables (reports, drawings, models, and calculations) and manage design on transportation and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Carry out permitting and approvals, coordinate with authorities, contractors, and stakeholders, and seal work as appropriate.
- Run projects end to end: scope, schedule, budget, and risk, including construction-phase input and oversight.
- Work across a broad project mix. The team sits under Transportation and supports civil work for municipalities, airports, industrial clients, water and site development.
Clients and growth
- Manage client accounts: scopes and fees, progress reviews, early issue resolution, and account growth.
- Lead and write proposals, contribute to account planning and represent the practice in the region.
People and practice
- Mentor engineers, EITs and technologists, and model a culture of safety, collaboration and quality.
- Grow into the local practice lead role on a defined succession track.
What You Bring
- 10 years in consulting with multi-divisional exposure, for example, transportation, municipal, site development, airports, industrial, and water. Structural specialization is not required.
- 7 years of Canadian project experience, with working knowledge of BC, TAC, and MMCD standards and provincial and municipal approvals.
- Client-facing leadership: owning portfolios, guiding strategy and growing accounts.
- Command of project economics (scoping, fees, forecasts, cost control) and quality management.
- P.Eng. in BC, or eligibility for registration with EGBC.
- Strong communication and people leadership, with experience mentoring and building teams.
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D and AutoTURN.
- GIS and MS Office for planning, analysis and reporting.
- British Columbia residency.
Who Gets Our Attention
- A master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Traffic tools: Synchro, VISSIM.
- Water resources tools: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, PondPack.
- Experience working in regional, resource-driven communities.
The Person
You still enjoy the engineering, and you also want to lead: own the accounts, grow the team, and answer for the practice's results. You are resilient, community-minded, and comfortable being the person clients across several sectors call first.
Why This One?
The path to practice leadership is defined from day one. Over your first 12 to 18 months, you'll become the go-to engineer for clients across multiple sectors, grow and develop the local team, and take on resource planning, forecasting, and strategic account growth as you move into the practice lead role.
Location
Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna, or another of the client's BC offices. Office-based with periodic field presence, and some regional travel for client and site meetings.
Compensation
CAD $130,000 base salary, full-time, direct hire.
