Production & Logistics Associate (Shipping, Receiving & Assembly) - 6 Month Contract
About the Role:
Westport is seeking a Production & Logistics Associate (Shipping, Receiving & Assembly) to join our team on a six-month contract. This role plays a key part in supporting both production and warehouse operations by assisting with assembly activities, shipping and receiving processes, material handling, inventory movement, and general operational support.
The successful candidate will contribute to a safe, efficient, and organized work environment while ensuring materials and products flow smoothly through the manufacturing process. This position requires a hands-on individual who enjoys physical work, pays close attention to detail, and works well in a team-oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, standing, bending, and repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Basic reading and comprehension skills to understand work instructions, shipping documents, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekends as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or industrial environment.
- Experience using hand tools and assembly equipment.
- Familiarity with inventory control and material handling practices.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment is considered an asset.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assemble products and components according to work instructions and quality standards.
- Prepare, package, and stage finished goods for shipment.
- Receive incoming materials and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Load, unload, move, and organize materials, supplies, and finished products throughout the facility.
- Support inventory control activities, including stock organization and cycle counts.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory transactions as required.
- Operate manufacturing equipment, tools, and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist team members across production, warehouse, and logistics functions as needed.
- Report equipment issues, inventory discrepancies, or safety concerns promptly.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards.
