About the Position
Wheatland Family & Community Support Services (WFCSS) is seeking a Community Services Coordinator to join our team. The Community Services Coordinator provides client services, administrative support, program development, event planning, and operational support to WFCSS. As an important point of contact for clients, community members, staff, volunteers, and community partners, this position helps ensure WFCSS programs and services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in a welcoming and professional manner.
This is a varied role that combines direct client support, community programming, administration, communications, and event coordination. The successful candidate will be organized, adaptable, compassionate, and comfortable managing a variety of responsibilities in a busy community-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide reception and client service, including responding to inquiries, providing information, and connecting individuals with appropriate community resources and referrals.
- Support seniors and individuals accessing WFCSS programs and services.
- Assist with client needs assessments and service coordination.
- Support the delivery and coordination of WFCSS programs, workshops, and community initiatives.
- Assist with programs such as Meals on Wheels, Good Food Box, Community Fee Assistance, CVITP, Home Support, and Interagency.
- Coordinate meetings, rooms, program materials, catering, supplies, and event logistics.
- Assist with community events, including setup and takedown.
- Complete administrative and clerical duties, including filing, records management, purchasing, mail, and office organization.
- Support WFCSS website, social media, newsletters, flyers, and other communications.
- Maintain accurate program records, statistics, and other required documentation.
- Assist with reporting, outcome measurement, and annual reporting.
- Support emergency management and Emergency Social Services responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with community agencies, service providers, volunteers, and other community partners.
- Provide support to the CAO and WFCSS team on organizational priorities and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- A university degree or college diploma in Human Services, Social Work, Community Development, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A minimum of two years of related experience in client service, community services, social services, program support, or a related field.
- Experience providing direct client service to individuals with diverse and complex needs.
- Experience with community resource navigation, referrals, and service coordination.
- Experience supporting or coordinating community programs, workshops, events, or initiatives.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- The ability to respond to challenging situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Strong confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive client and organizational information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet-based systems, social media, and common office technology.
- The ability to learn and effectively use new software and organizational systems.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) as required.
Certifications & Training
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License and reliable access to a vehicle, if required for the position.
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
- Alberta Food Safety Basics certification.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
