Winpak Corporate is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Accounting & Treasury, this role will support financial planning and analysis, treasury, taxation, financial reporting, and strategic finance initiatives. This is an opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys asking questions, challenging ideas by using data, technology, and artificial intelligence to find better ways to analyze information and support business decisions.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and long-term strategic plans.
- Analyze financial performance and prepare variance analyses comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and prior-year performance.
- Develop and maintain financial models supporting pricing decisions, capital expenditures, acquisitions, strategic investments, and other business cases.
- Identify key business trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into clear recommendations for management.
- Prepare executive-level dashboards, presentations, and key performance indicator reporting.
- Conduct profitability analyses by business unit, product category, customer, market segment, and geographic region.
Treasury and Cash Management
- Prepare and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts and support liquidity and working capital planning.
- Assist with treasury reporting, banking relationships, debt administration, foreign exchange exposure monitoring, and capital structure analysis.
- Support the evaluation of financing alternatives, investment opportunities, and capital allocation decisions.
Taxation and Regulatory Support
- Support Canadian and U.S. corporate income tax compliance and assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations.
- Coordinate information requests from external tax advisors and regulatory agencies and prepare government and statistical reporting submissions.
Strategic Finance and Corporate Development
- Participate in mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, business valuation, and strategic investment projects.
- Conduct industry, market, and competitor research and support business development initiatives through scenario analysis and financial modeling.
Technology and General Responsibilities
- Use artificial intelligence, automation, business intelligence, and advanced analytics tools to enhance financial analysis, forecasting, and decision support.
- Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Winpak Values and promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company.
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, public accounting, treasury, or a related finance function.
- Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and business reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and the ability to learn new financial systems and tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, investigate issues, and follow through on projects with limited direction.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- High degree of accuracy, confidentiality, initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or another operationally focused business.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, automation, artificial intelligence, or other tools used to improve financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience with Infor M3, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or a comparable enterprise resource planning system.
- Experience supporting treasury, taxation, capital investments, acquisitions, business valuation, or other strategic finance initiatives.
- Curiosity and a continuous learning mindset, with an interest in questioning existing processes and identifying practical ways to improve them.
Additional Details
- This is a full-time hybrid position based at Winpak Corporate, 150 Saulteaux Crescent, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The hybrid work arrangement is subject to Winpak’s applicable hybrid work guidelines.
- This role works across Corporate Finance and business units and may require occasional travel to Winpak facilities or meetings as business needs arise.
