About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Analyst specializing in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Power BI, and Power Platform to join our client's dynamic team on a 12-month hybrid engagement in Downtown Toronto. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading data and analytical workstreams, developing comprehensive reports, and creating process flows, user guides, migration documents, and testing results. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with top-tier banking professionals and contribute to transformative payment modernization projects. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to build robust data pipelines, deliver actionable insights, and support strategic decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex data concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or insights roles, preferably within Canadian banking
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data mining, profiling, cleansing, and enrichment techniques
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and evaluate trends and anomalies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products
- Experience working on large-scale transformational projects is a plus
- Master’s degree or MBA is desirable but not mandatory
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure Databricks or GCP is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Lead data and analytical initiatives in collaboration with GTB Payments Transformation, technology, and product teams
- Develop and maintain end-to-end future-state reports serving as primary portals for GTB payments operations, including dashboards, insights, and scorecards
- Partner with business teams across North America to gather requirements, understand existing ecosystems, and visualize target states
- Build and optimize data pipelines and lineage to enable sustainable reporting within a modernized data ecosystem
- Collaborate with Enterprise Data Lake technology teams to establish a resilient data infrastructure supporting reporting needs
- Provide analytics and insights to Payment Modernization, Product, Correspondent Banking, and Operations teams to improve efficiency, customer experience, and compliance
- Identify, prioritize, analyze, and remediate data and reporting issues proactively
- Create comprehensive process flows, user guides, migration documentation, and testing reports
- Ensure data governance, accuracy, and access controls within the BI ecosystem
- Drive efforts to bridge capability gaps in data and analytics functions
- Champion the adoption of new BI and analytics solutions, acting as a centre of excellence
- Innovate and develop automation and reporting tools to support sales, payments, and product teams
- Lead training sessions for stakeholders on new features and technical enhancements
- Collaborate with various analytics teams within the bank to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing
- Maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, understanding risk considerations in analytics activities
