Role Description The Avionics Apprentice will support licensed technicians in the inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of helicopter and fixed-wing avionics and electrical systems. We are a Garmin, AEM, Astronautics and Jupiter dealer and we perform installations on helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with troubleshooting aircraft systems, reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, performing basic electrical checks, and documenting work in accordance with company and regulatory standards. The role involves maintaining a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures, and collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure aircraft readiness. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Thunder Bay, ON, and may include occasional overtime and shift work depending on operational needs.
Qualifications
- Ability to assist with aircraft maintenance tasks, including routine inspections and basic maintenance & repair activities.
- Familiarity with helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft and an interest in learning the specifics of aircraft systems.
- Capacity to read and interpret wiring diagrams and apply them to troubleshooting electrical and avionics issues.
- Understanding of aircraft systems fundamentals, including electrical, communication, navigation, and instrumentation components.
- Enrollment in or completion of an aviation maintenance or avionics program is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, safety-focused mindset, and ability to follow technical instructions and procedures.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work under supervision in a hangar and field environment.
- Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks, including working at heights and in confined spaces, and lifting moderate loads.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to comply with company safety, training, and regulatory requirements.
