About the role We are seeking an experienced Intermediate/Senior Distribution Engineer to join a growing engineering team in British Columbia. This is an excellent opportunity for a P.Eng. with strong utility and distribution experience who is looking to take on technical leadership responsibilities while contributing to complex capital projects.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the Engineer of Record (PoR), reviewing designs and technical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Sign and seal engineering drawings and deliverables.
- Provide technical expertise for electrical utility and distribution projects.
- Support capital distribution projects through technical leadership and engineering oversight.
- Complete engineering studies, including protection coordination, feeder cable analysis, and overhead pole line design.
- Develop design approaches, confirm project scope, identify technical risks, and recommend solutions.
- Work closely with internal teams, clients, utilities, and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and support staff.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
What You Bring
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with EGBC.
- Electrical Engineering background preferred; strong Civil Engineering candidates with relevant distribution experience will also be considered.
- 6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Previous utility experience is required; BC Hydro experience is a strong asset.
- Strong technical knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
- Experience with distribution design, technical reviews, and engineering studies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound engineering judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members.
- Canadian work experience and authorization to work in Canada.
