We're looking for a Project Financial Controller to join our Corporate Project Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and analytically minded finance professional who thrives at the intersection of financial management, project delivery, and strategic decision-making.
In this role, you'll partner with project teams, portfolio leaders, and senior executives to provide financial support across WSIB's enterprise project portfolio. You'll help ensure projects are financially sound, risks are understood, and strategic investments deliver value.

About The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Project Finance, the Project Financial Controller is responsible for portfolio financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and financial governance across enterprise projects and programs.
You will provide trusted financial advice to project teams and leadership, helping ensure sound financial management, effective controls, compliance with accounting standards, and informed decision-making across the project portfolio.
What You'll Do Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Lead portfolio budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting activities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Analyze project, program, and portfolio financial performance and provide actionable recommendations.
- Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and financial models that support strategic decision-making.
- Research and assess complex accounting and financial issues, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Monitor the financial health of the project portfolio and communicate key insights to stakeholders.
- Ensure project financial objectives align with WSIB's strategic priorities and enterprise goals.
Financial Governance & Controllership
- Develop and maintain financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks that support effective project delivery.
- Monitor project expenditures, forecasts, resource utilization, and budget performance.
- Validate financial forecasts through analysis of actual costs, progress achieved, and future projections.
- Support the management of capital and operating expenditures across the portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial policies, and governance requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of portfolio financial management practices, tools, and reporting methodologies.
Strategic Partnership & Advisory
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to project managers, portfolio leaders, and business partners.
- Translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights.
- Build strong relationships across the organization to support successful project outcomes.
- Influence decision-making through evidence-based financial analysis and recommendations.
What You'll Bring Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within a large, complex organization.
- 2-3 years of experience supporting projects, programs, or portfolio financial management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation or progress toward designation.
- PMP certification or project management training.

- Financial reporting, data extraction, and transformation using Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI)
- Advanced Excel capabilities, including Power Query

- Building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports
- Applying Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies to monitor project performance, measure progress, and support financial decision-making
