Bring your ecological expertise to projects that help protect, restore, and manage natural environments across Ontario. As a Junior Biologist, you will contribute scientific insight, technical excellence, and practical problem-solving to environmental approvals, impact assessments, monitoring programs, and natural heritage initiatives. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver sustainable solutions for government, infrastructure, mining, energy, municipal, land development, and natural heritage projects while advancing your technical and professional growth.
Your Impact
- Deliver high-quality technical reports, environmental assessment documentation, natural heritage assessments, environmental impact studies, and monitoring reports that support informed environmental decision-making.
- Transform ecological field observations, analytical findings, policy requirements, and agency guidance into clear, defensible conclusions and practical recommendations.
- Contribute to ecological study design by defining objectives, identifying data needs, selecting survey methodologies, and documenting scientific rationale.
- Analyze and interpret ecological data to evaluate environmental conditions, project effects, mitigation measures, residual impacts, and monitoring requirements.
- Conduct ecological field surveys within areas such as wildlife, terrestrial ecology, wetlands, aquatic systems, vegetation communities, and species at risk.
- Apply environmental legislation, policy, and guidance to support regulatory approvals, environmental assessments, and project compliance requirements.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities, including data review, mapping inputs, technical analyses, and report deliverables.
- Collaborate with project managers, technical specialists, clients, agencies, and Indigenous communities to deliver meaningful environmental outcomes.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline; a research-based graduate degree is considered an asset.
- Typically 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in ecological consulting, environmental assessment, applied field biology, research, government, academic, or conservation authority environments.
- Demonstrated experience preparing ecological reports, environmental impact studies, natural heritage assessments, monitoring reports, or permitting support documentation.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate, and defensible ecological deliverables for client and regulatory review.
- Working knowledge of Ontario ecology, natural heritage systems, environmental legislation, species at risk, wetlands, wildlife, vegetation, aquatic habitats, or related disciplines.
- Ability to synthesize information from field data, GIS products, desktop reviews, agency databases, policies, legislation, and interdisciplinary project inputs.
- Strong field skills, including the ability to solve problems, adapt methodologies, and make sound decisions in dynamic environmental conditions.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and willingness to travel for field assignments, site visits, and project-related activities as required.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $60,100 – $79,600
MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $54,200 – $72,000
