Role Description The Accounting Bookkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records that support Xbuilt’s construction operations. Day-to-day tasks include recording and reconciling transactions, preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and supporting the preparation of financial statements. The role also involves managing accounts payable and receivable, tracking project-related costs, assisting with payroll, and ensuring timely and compliant reporting. The Accounting Bookkeeper collaborates with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights, support budgeting and cost control, and help maintain organized documentation for audits and compliance.
Qualifications
- Strong bookkeeping skills, including maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, and managing accounts payable/receivable.
- Experience with financial statements and basic finance concepts, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow tracking.
- Proficiency with accounting software and related tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar construction-focused platforms).
- Ability to prepare and post accurate journal entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with project teams and management.
- Previous experience in construction or project-based accounting is an asset.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant certifications are considered an advantage.
